Fund Raising

STATE REGISTRATION

To conform to State Regulations, Medi-Aid was required to re-apply to the Department of Gaming and Racing (Charities Branch) for a licence to fund raise. For many years Medi-Aid had held such a licence, but as no public fund raising activities had been conducted, the licence was voluntarily returned to the Department in December 1998. However, reapplication for the licence was made and a new licence issued by the Department for a five year period dating from June 26, 2006. The registration Number is CFN 12871.

Public fund-raising commenced in November 2006, and the Medi-Aid Appeal Form was lodged with the Department of Gaming and Racing for approval and registration in August 2006. Approval was given verbally by the Department. It was reviewed on June 26, 2008.

Donations to fundraising appeals are receipted and a letter of thanks mailed to the donor, noting that donations are tax exempt as Medi-Aid is a DGR - Deductible Gift Recipient.

The Department of Gaming and Racing has stated that there is no limit to the number of appeals conducted by Medi-Aid, and that funds may be used in the general benevolent affairs of Medi-Aid. Medi-Aid received management principles of the Department, and subscribed to its management manual.

PURPOSE OF GIFT FUND

The purpose of the Gift Fund is to receive gifts from related parties for Medi-Aid Centre Foundation Limited, a Public Benevolent Institution, which will then use these gifts for benefiting and or housing the elderly who may be helpless, sick or destitute.

We acknowledge that payments may be for new housing, salaries of employees, administration, repairs and maintenance of elderly accommodation, and any related costs to carry out the above benevolent activities.
