Vimiera Village

Vimiera Village

217 - 223 Vimiera Road Eastwood

LOVELY “VIMIERA VILLAGE”

Lovely “Vimiera Village” is located in a beautiful bushland setting in the heart of Marsfield (Eastwood), not far from Macquarie University, and next door to Epping Boys High School. It is on public transport linking  Sydney -  Epping – Eastwood – Macquarie Centre, and not far from the new Chatswood to Epping railway link at Macquarie Centre. It consists of around 150 modern “five star” apartments, dedicated to accommodating the elderly.  Set on a pristine site nearly 6 acres it is shielded from the noise and bustle of busy highways nearby. Doctors and nurses call regularly as required.

INDEPENDENT LIVING UNITS

Most are “Independent Living Units” where Residents care for themselves.  One, two bedroom, and two bedroom with “den” (virtually another bedroom or office or hobby room) are available. Solid brick with terra cotta tiled roof, and paving, most blocks have elevators, ramps, plenty of external and internal lighting, and safety grab rails. There is 24/7 on site management, and all have access to emergency call buttons. Ryde Public Hospital is nearby. So is the “Sydney Sanitarium” widely known as “The San” at Wahroonga. Both have emergency wards.

ASSISTED LIVING UNITS

A dedicated block contains over 50 “Assisted Living Units”.  Here, the Resident has a personal unit, with access to all meals (plus morning and afternoon teas if desired), large airy dining room, plus its own libraries, and other entertainment rooms. Linen is provided and laundered, the unit  cleaned regularly. Added to this is access to the Village Centre.  Again there is live-in 24/7 emergency call.

RESPITE CARE (Short Stay)

If a carer of elderly person desires a break from the daily routine, “Vimiera Village” offers “Respite Care”.  This may be for a few days, to weeks or months (or even permanently).  All the Assisted Living services are available for any specific period of time without long term commitment.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

A dedicated “Village Community Centre” is complete with indoor swimming pool and spa, libraries, entertainment rooms, wide plasma TV screen,  cable, private rooms for contemplation, conferences, cards or meeting with others.  A non denominational service is held a 4pm each Friday for one hour.

There is a lot of friendliness and camaraderie.  Never feel lonely or depressed, you may meet new friends of similar age.  Or just sit on the garden seats outside, or go for walks in our own park alongside. Social events are held regularly. It operates on the resident funded basis used by most churches and community groups only Medi Aid, being non-profit,  is much more generous.

MACQUARIE CENTRE

“Macquarie Centre” has a vast array of shops, specialty stores, supermarkets, newsagents, post office, newsagency, florists, gift shops, banks and an extensive medical centre (with on site pathology, radiology, and eye services).  You’ll discover Myer and Freedom, Dick Smith, Woolworths, ABC books, many restaurants and coffee shops, and a host of others delights. Like air conditioning, and cheap prices on certain days at the cinema complex.  It is continually being upgraded, added to and changed.
